Hypertension

Hypertension, also referred to as high blood pressure, is a condition where the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high. The higher the blood pressure, the harder the heart has to pump. Hypertension can lead to damaged organs, and may increase the chance of having a stroke, heart attack, heart failure, kidney disease or an early death.

Hypertension is not accompanied with symptoms but can be controlled through managing blood pressure by avoiding smoking, losing weight, eating a low-sodium diet, managing stress and exercising regularly.
